Permit-ready PE stamp services for building permits
Need a permit-ready PE stamp? AllInStamp connects you with a professional engineer licensed in the state where the work is permitted. The engineer reviews your set against the adopted code and local amendments, then returns stamped drawings formatted for that building department, so your permit submittal is accepted the first time. Upload your plan set to see an instant page-based price.

What PE stamping means for your permit
A PE stamp shows that a licensed professional engineer prepared the drawings or calculations, or reviewed them closely enough to take responsible charge of them. Building departments ask for a PE stamp on structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection work that falls outside prescriptive code paths.
PE stamping is not a rubber stamp. The engineer reviews the set against the adopted building code and local amendments, flags gaps, and seals only what they can stand behind. That review is what gets a permit set through plan check with fewer comment cycles.
What makes a PE stamp permit-ready
A stamp alone does not get a permit issued. Building departments reject stamped sets every day because the seal is from the wrong state, the signature is missing, or the drawings do not match the calculations. A permit-ready PE stamp means the sealed set will pass the building department’s intake check and hold up in plan review.
Right license for the project state. The engineer must hold an active PE license in the state where the work is permitted, and in the right discipline when the state board requires it. We verify the license with the state board before sealing.
Seal, signature, and date that meet state board rules. Each state board sets how the seal must be applied: which sheets get sealed, wet or digital signature, date placement, and, for digital seals, an approved certificate format. We apply the seal the way your state board and building department require.
Current code edition and local amendments. The set has to reference the IBC, IRC, NEC, or IMC edition the jurisdiction has adopted, along with its local amendments, design loads, and wind, snow, and seismic criteria. Outdated code references are one of the most common plan check comments.
Calculations that match the drawings. Member sizes, loads, and equipment in the calculation package must match what is drawn. We check the two against each other and seal the calculations together with the sheets they support.
A complete submittal package. That means a title block with the project address, a sheet index, general notes, and every schedule and detail on the AHJ’s submittal checklist. Use our free AHJ permit review checklist to self-check before you upload.
Support after submittal. When plan check sends comments on the stamped scope, the same engineer responds and reseals the revised sheets, so the permit keeps moving.
Who uses our PE stamping service
General contractors and design-build firms use AllInStamp when a project needs a licensed PE stamp and there is no engineer of record in-house. Engineering firms use us as outsourced PE stamping capacity when a job lands in a state where they do not hold a license. Architects, drafters, solar installers, and homeowners use us when the building department asks for an engineer’s stamp on plans they already have.
Common requests include PE stamps for residential additions and ADUs, commercial tenant improvements, structural calculations, retaining walls, solar racking, mechanical and electrical plans, and as-built drawings.
How online PE stamping works
Upload your PDF or PNG plan set and choose the project state. The quote tool counts pages automatically and prices the full set at one volume rate, from $100 per sheet down to $25 per sheet as page count grows. Rush service is available.
A PE licensed in the project state reviews the set, requests anything missing, and returns stamped PDFs for your permit portal. Wet stamps are available when the building department requires them. If plan check comes back with comments on the stamped scope, we respond to them.
Disciplines we stamp
Structural (framing, foundations, steel, retaining walls, calculations), civil and site, mechanical and HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and solar. Multi-discipline sets can be routed to multiple licensed engineers under one quote.
FAQ
- How much does a PE stamp cost?
- Stamping is priced by sheet count. The whole set uses one volume rate that drops as the page count grows, from $100 per sheet down to $25 per sheet. Enter the number of pages or select a sample plan. Final pricing is confirmed after plan review.
- Who can stamp engineering drawings?
- Only a professional engineer licensed in the state where the project will be permitted. A license from another state does not qualify unless the engineer is also licensed in the project state. AllInStamp matches a PE licensed in your project state and verifies the license before stamping.
- How fast can I get a PE stamp?
- Smaller stamp sets can be done in about one business day. Larger packages usually take several business days. Rush service shortens the timeline, and your quote shows an estimated schedule before you submit.
- Can you stamp plans someone else drew?
- Yes. A licensed PE can review drawings prepared by others and stamp the set once they have taken responsible charge of it. If the review finds code issues, we tell you what needs to change before stamping.
- What does a permit-ready PE stamp include?
- A permit-ready PE stamp is a seal from an engineer licensed in your project state, applied with the signature and date your state board requires, on drawings and calculations that have been checked against the jurisdiction’s adopted code. You receive stamped PDFs ready to upload to the permit portal, or wet-stamped sheets when the building department requires them.
- Will a PE-stamped set be accepted by my building department?
- A stamp from a PE licensed in your project state is accepted by building departments in that state. Plan check can still comment on the design, so the engineer reviews the set against local requirements before sealing to keep comments to a minimum. If comments come back on the stamped scope, we answer them and reseal the revised sheets.
- Do you provide digital PE stamps for online permit portals?
- Yes. Most building departments now accept digitally signed and sealed PDFs. We apply the digital seal and signature in the format your state board allows, and we provide wet-stamped sets when a jurisdiction still requires paper.
