How online PE stamping works

Upload the drawings, a PE licensed in the project state reviews them, and you get a sealed PDF for the permit portal. Here is each step.

Online PE stamping

You upload the set and see a price

Online PE stamping starts with the file, not a phone call. Upload the PDF or PNG sheets and pick the state where the work will be permitted. The quote counts pages and prices the whole set at one volume rate, from $100 per sheet down to $25 per sheet. You see that number before anyone is assigned.

Include the calculations if the building department will ask for them, and note the city. The license follows the project address. A set permitted in Texas is reviewed by a Texas PE even if you are uploading from somewhere else.

A licensed PE reviews under responsible charge

The assigned engineer reads the drawings against the code edition and local amendments that jurisdiction has adopted. Member sizes, loads, and equipment have to match the calculations. Gaps are sent back to you before a seal is applied. That is the difference between a review and a stamp graphic dropped on a PDF.

The engineer’s license is checked with the state board before sealing. If the project type needs a structural engineer license rather than a standard PE, the job is routed that way instead of being forced through the wrong credential.

You receive a file the portal can take

Delivery is a sealed PDF with the signature and date format that state board allows for electronic seals. Most permit portals accept that file at intake. If the department still wants a wet stamp, say so up front and the same review is issued on paper.

Smaller sets can be done in about one business day. Larger packages take several business days. The quote shows the estimate. If plan check later comments on the stamped scope, the same engineer answers and reseals the revised sheets.

FAQ

Do I have to mail the drawings?
No. Online PE stamping is file in, sealed PDF out. Wet-stamped paper is available only when the building department still requires it.
Who is the engineer of record?
The PE who reviews the set and applies the seal. Their name, license number, and state are on the sealed sheets. AllInStamp does not apply a seal for an engineer who has not reviewed the work.
